Today we read all of Zoe's Valentines together and read Little Critter's "Just a Little Love" and some Fancy Nancy Books we got from the library.

Next we did the math packet and some counting up with the linking cubes to 6,7,8,9 and Zoe created her own math problem on the back of her homework. She also did some ST Math

Next she wrote a senses poem about Valentine's Day at school in this style:

On Valentines Day....
I see
I smell
I taste
I hear
I feel

She told me all about the day at school and came up with some cute answers :). She also drew pictures and decorated it.

Hudson started the morning with his math homework, then used play dough as a visual to count to 201 by himself. (That was messy) we practiced the new sight words and practiced some sentences for to, too, and two. He did his “what do you love” sheet from yesterday, and did great with his spelling! He got money from grandma in a valentine card so we talked about money and different values. We also learned a little about George Washington in honor of Presidents’ Day on Monday. We are going outside to enjoy the sunshine and beautiful weather the rest of the afternoon.

Today Olivia started her day with her Eureka Math sheets and then moved on to ST Math for a bit. After Math she read her book: Uni The Unicorn, which is not a Ready to Read leveled book, just more of a fun bedtime story book. It is the first non-leveled book she has read and although some of the words were tough she got through it and enjoyed reading it to me instead of the other way around. After that we had a Sadie and her big sis Audrey over for a playdate and to meet our new bunnies that Olivia and Dominic got on Valentines day (hence all the rabbit learning last Friday ;))! Olivia has spent a lot of time with me at the computer researching the best we can about being new pet rabbit owners. She is finishing her day today with writing out ways she can best help take care of the new bunnies and what responsibilities will be "her's".

Isabel completed her math worksheets, and read a leveled reading book and tried a book the next level up and did great! She did some handwriting practice on a few letters and numbers that she has a harder time with writing them neatly. We talked about what the word "observe" means and then went outside with magnifying glasses to observe things and learn about them. So we observed some plants and used her older brother's California book to look up the plants and try and find out which ones they were. We then observed animals at the zoo (and she brought her little notebook with her to take notes), and observed the tide pools the next day and the plants, shells, and animals in them.

Ollie started the morning by working on his math. He practiced reading to his sister and she read her books to him. After lunch he did ST math and Ollie asked how cars are made, so we discussed the design and manufacturing process.

Cash did math worksheets in the morning followed by using cubes to further practice addition. He wrote a story then did book reading as well as listening to his brother and I read. We also made a volcano from a Nat Geo kit and learned all about volcanoes. The next day we spent a ton of time at the beach exploring :)

Caleb and Noelle completed their math packets. For extra practice, Noelle counted to a 100 by 10s and completed an activity on counting by 10s. Caleb and Noelle completed a sort and read game for "to, too, and two"... They did great and I love that they are learning about homophones! C and N studiesd the word "they"... we spelt it out on our arms and said a few sentences using "they". After warming up for the sight word, THEY each completed a worksheet tracing, writing, and reading the word "they". To honor our presidents, they watched a power point presentation on George and Abe. After, we read mini books on the 1st and 16th president. To follow up on what we read, C and N either had to choose to make a poster or a crown for Washington and Lincoln. Finally, I placed out poster cards/ flash cards on each president as well as historical monuments honoring the presidents. Along with the post cards, C and N used a magnifying glass to study the $1, $5, quarter and penny... they spent A LOT of time studying the details of the pictures and currency!

We worked on the homework and reading. With reading we went to the library and picked out a few books for her. Besides just a few new words, Sadie is really getting the hang of sounding out most of the words.

We also started working on building her piñata for her birthday. She is helping with the construction and design of it. On a side note we spent time in the garden hunting for lizards, found one, caught it and played with it for a little bit. Fun times.

Totally space posting last night so sorry. Anyways this weekend we worked on the math packet sent home. Then we decided to play some alphabet bingo. The kids loved it! We also tried something new well reading to him. I had him say the words he knew. One whole story he said all of the "The"s for me. He thought that was pretty cool.
