Welcome!! Happy Friday!
Olivia started her day early by making handmade Valentine's Day notes to her friends and family (all on her own). We then moved on to her math worksheets and we also did some math stories (addition/subtraction) using cube and cylinder blocks. After that she read to me for 20 mins and we worked on talking about the story afterwards for comprehension. She also practiced her sight words list and we touched on syllables but didn't finish because we had an appt to get to. She ended her day riding bikes with her brother at the park and then gymnastics class.
Groundhog Phil brought (sad) news of another 6 weeks of winter...Boo! But we made the most of it... N & C read a small print out story : Phil, the ground. We read it as a group, then indivudally... I can see and hear the strategies they are learning in class- WOW! After reading, the twins completed a cut and paste Winter vs Spring... we discussed how we dont see/experience true winter in San Diego. Next, we were on the word "there" and completed a worksheet. I found it at the website confessionsofahomeschooler; it has EVERYkinder sight word and I believe it is free! So nice to have a quick printout for each week! Finally, we completed the math packet. I pulled out some manipulatives to help the process and stories come to life.To wrap up their day, they headed to grandma's house to discuss and do some gardening... which included picking oranges from their great grandma's tree... yummy! Have a bleesed weekend, y'all!
Isabel started off by working on her Eureka math worksheets, followed by reading some leveled books with me, and then on her own. She also made a scrapbook card for her grandparents who left and wrote them a little note. She played "sight word jump" on the carpet and then we headed out to Sea World! We spent a lot of time at the sea lions where we learned all the animals that fall under the "pinaped" category, and learned the difference between seals, sea lions, and walruses. Then met up with some friends at a park! It was a fun filled and BUSY day! ;o)
We started the day by watching the report on groundhog day. Learned a little bit about weather. We then dove into doing our math and reading. Once we finished our home packet we decided to play games of hangman. This was really cool to watch the girls come up with words and try to figure out the letters that were missing. In the afternoon we worked on A project building little log cabins and wagons from sticks and glue. We went to gymnastics and got some physical activity in and then came home and set up our Girl Scout cookie selling station in front of our house and sold cookies.
Zoe started the day by reading to me for 20 minutes on her brother's raz kids account. Next we did some fun site word practice and Zoe finished making her Valentines for her classmates. For writing Zoe practiced some CVC words on her boogie board and we played a couple of rounds of hangman. She finished all of her math pages that were sent home and we practiced the same concepts with linking cubes (adding on to make 5,6,7). We also read some more Shel Silverstein poems and giggled :). She loves that she can read a lot of them now!!!
We also went to the beach and wrote in the sand and talked about the tides while her brother was surfing :)
That's a good idea borrowing the raz account!! I thought about it but haven't played around with it as far as finding the right reading level..

Caleb started Math with the sheets sent home. We read some of the books we grabbed at the meeting on Thursday and he was so excited to work through a level up! We talked about the "ea" sound found in a few of the words. He also made party invitations for his grandparents. Then we went to the Palomar Observatory and talked about the telescope and how it works with the giant mirror. We also talked about how different matter gives off different colors when the sun light passes through it. He's also very into black holes, haha, so we talked a bit about how they pull things in and condensed matter.

We started the day with ST math, then we downloaded an awesome app with sight word games. We went on a hike. After, Nova read the five boos I brought home from talk to the teacher. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the book, Oh say, can you say, whats the weather today? The book has a ton of awesome lessons in it, we drew the different kinds of clouds in the book it was super fun, will use it next week too!
Bryce did his math packet and ST Math. He read to me from just right books and one level higher. We learned some interesting facts about Orca's and he wrote about them and drew a picture. We also went to the zoo and saw a baby hippo and baby baboon. The tigers were walking around and we got to go through the entire new Africa Rocks exhibit.
Kain worked on ST math. Then we did a few alphabet worksheets. Last we went over letters and their sounds with flash cards. He won tickets for however many he could get correct.
Gage started the morning off with working on his math worksheets then spent about 30mins on ST math. He decided he wanted to read vs write a short story so i let him take the lead since he has been so excited about reading books on his own. We then spent some time working on our sight words. After our school work was done he headed outside to ride his bike and roller blades.
Oliver read his books to his brothers for about 20 minutes. He also practiced counting money and learning how much things cost at the store. He wrote in his journal for 10 minutes. He also learned about the Super Bowl and practiced basketball.

Then played outside and practiced basketball for his game Saturday morning.

We spent most the day cleaning up and getting Jake's room ready for friends visiting for the weekend. Jake did some ST Math and math workbook pages. He loves his Curious George books and is making such great progress. We walked around Ocean Beach with our visiting friends and took care of our friends dog while she was out of town.
